more LOST footage!

Raise your hand if you miss LOST.

Then raise your other hand if you'd like to see more LOST footage.

If you have both hands in the air, lower one hand so you can click here. That link contains a sneak peek at a new "lost segment" that will be available in the forthcoming DVD of the complete LOST series. This lil' epilogue is a 12-14 minute clip that covers the unknown time from when Hurley is "number one" on the island and the end of the series.

So, here's my question: who is going to fork out the money to buy the complete series DVD, so that all of us can watch this clip? If it doesn't get on YouTube, we might be in trouble.

P.S. Thanks for sending me this clip, E!

LOST memorabilia for sale at auction

LOST memorabilia is going up for auction! (Although part of me whines, "What?!? Already?" I feel like I'm not getting time to pause and mourn the ending of the show.)

You can see a preview of the auction items here.

What would you bid on? Who wants to go in with me on a bid for Charlie's awesome "DS" ring?

In a word....

Disappointing.

What'd you think?

I still have so many stinkin questions.

finale predictions

We don't have much time before the finale of LOST! Aaah! I think it's a bittersweet thing. I'll miss watching this show, but I'll also be relieved to finally have answers.

J's predictions for the finale
  • Ben will save the day
  • Jack will not have to stay on the island
  • Sawyer and Juliet will meet each other (or possibly be together). Maybe they'll meet at the concert?
  • We will see most (if not all) of the main characters throughout the show, particularly the ones we haven't seen yet this season (i.e. Walt, Mr. Eko, etc.)
  • There will be a flash-forward showing people in the future
  • Jack and Kate won't get together, but it will be implied that they will get together in the future

My predictions for the finale
  • Desmond will save the day
  • Ben will end up staying on the island instead of Jack because a) Ben wants to stay on the island and b) no one cares about Ben finding a happily-ever-after life in civilization
  • Jack and Kate will get back together (largely because too many people would be disappointed if this season ended without a Shephard/Austin kiss)
  • The Smoke Monster/Locke will be killed, and all of the people who were ever killed by the Smoke Monster will then come back to life. (Okay, I don't really think that that last bit will happen, but I do think that the Smoke Monster will be killed.)
  • We will see Sun and Jin again.
Hurry! Write your prediction in the comment section before the finale tomorrow! It will be fun to compare the predictions after all is revealed...

FINALLY

someone mentioned the "aged" Lapidus look. For real, Sawyer was dead on with the Burt Reynolds comparison.

one more thought:

Do you ever wonder if Jacob is bad?

fear

After seeing last night's episode, I think that "Locke" (a.k.a. Smoke Monster) must feed off of fear. In other words, I think he must be able to control and manipulate others from fear. Jacob never seemed afraid of him, which I think was part of Jacob's power (and why the Smoke Monster couldn't kill him).

Anyhow, last night it seemed like "Locke" perceived Desmond as an enemy because Desmond was not afraid. And mems how the actual Locke was not afraid of the Smoke Monster either? He looked "into the heart" of the Smoke Monster, and the monster didn't kill him.

It was interesting to see the contrast between Desmond's calm, fearless attitude and Hurley's jittery "Dude, we don't want anyone hurt" conversation with "Locke."

Walt verses Locke

Elsewhere, Walt approaches Locke, who teaches him the rules of backgammon, explaining that the game is over 5,000 years old, referring to the Mesopotamian Royal Game of Ur.

Ah ha!

http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Pilot,_Part_2

There we go, Jacob is from Mesopotamia!

Walt verses Locke

Okay, this is what I have decided.

In one of the very first episodes you see Walt playing backgammon with Locke. Locke, I believe is black and Walt is white. Much like unto how the "good" of Jacob is symbolized through white and the "evil" of the Smoke Monster is symbolized through black, I believe that in the end Walt is ultimately going to return to the island in order to be Jacob's replacement.

This, I feel, would be the awesomest way for the story to come full circle and book end the struggle between good and evil.

Thoughts?

Did anyone else feel like there was a bit of sexual tension between Dr. Linus and the student Alex in the previous episode? Ben will never cease to creep me out.

some lost thoughts and dharma drinks

Friends, this is what you missed drinking at our LOST premiere party: Dharma Initiative (Root) Beer. (You'll notice that I added the qualifying adjective "root" in front of cans - except I just noticed that I missed marking one can. Don't worry, that one also was non-alcoholic.) Too bad we couldn't have seen the premiere show together.

I haven't had much time to theorize/think about LOST lately, even though I have watched each episode faithfully. Although I don't have anything profound to say, here are a couple of things I've been thinking about:

- The parallel between "wild" Claire and Rousseau is really interesting. Both Claire and Rousseau lost a child, since Aaron went with Kate and Alex was kidnapped by the Others/Ben. I wonder what more parallels might become apparent.

- I'm curious about the inconsistencies between the alternate timeline on the Flight 815 and the original Flight 815 (that we saw in the first season). I think it's especially interesting that Desmond was on that flight. I'm really excited to see an episode that revolves around Desmond. Do he and Penny end up together in this alternate timeline? J and I both think that the interrelated lives between the flight members (i.e. Claire with Kate in the taxi, Jack giving Locke his business card) shows that the Oceanic passengers were supposed to meet, either on or off the island. I kind of wonder if the alternate timeline will show the Oceanic members coming together and helping each other have better lives (perhaps Jack will fix Locke's back?).

- Mems how Ben was a lil' bit contrite and sorry that he murdered Locke? Is Ben changing and becoming a "good" person? I really hope that the show doesn't start to build Ben up as a good person - I don't think that I'm ever going to like Ben.

so....

What on earth is going on with LOST?! T-rav and I feel as though they're just adding questions to the already overflowing bowl of uncertainties. What's this infection of which the Japanese man speaks? Does it = dead? Is Claire a ghost? Are the peeps on the island living in parallel universes, so to speak...split between the island and real life? And the guy Kate kicked in the face when escaping from prison- does that refer to prison on the island or somewhere else? I think he looks familiar, but I'm not sure why.

Let's hear it! What does everyone think?

the "lost" supper

My friend Todd emailed me this photo, knowing that I would appreciate it more than anyone. (Make sure that you click on the photo above to see an enlarged version.) Isn't it great? I've scoured the photograph, hoping to find subtle references to da Vinci's Last Supper, but I haven't found anything that looks like a striking comparison. Kate is sitting on the left hand of Locke, in a similar position and location as Judas Iscariot in da Vinci's fresco. I think it would have been better if Ben was placed in the Judas Iscariot position, but oh well.

And I guess Sawyer would be in the position of John the Beloved, but I don't think that Sawyer is Locke's "beloved" companion. Really, I don't think that there are too many parallels, beyond the fact that there is a distinct parallel between Locke and Christ, especially since Locke "came back from the dead" last season. But if you find any parallels between da Vinci and LOST, I'd love to hear them.

There are some pretty fun things in the picture, though. The characters are seated at a table, which in actuality is the wing of an airplane. Their seats are also airliner seats. I also love that they are using Dharma cans and pop bottles. You can read a couple more parallels in this article here (and be sure to check out the far-fetched theories and silly comments accompanying the article).

What's your favorite part of the photo? Given the Last Supper context, I love that Hurley looks positively biblical. Wouldn't he make a great disciple?
