some lost thoughts and dharma drinks

Friends, this is what you missed drinking at our LOST premiere party: Dharma Initiative (Root) Beer. (You'll notice that I added the qualifying adjective "root" in front of cans - except I just noticed that I missed marking one can. Don't worry, that one also was non-alcoholic.) Too bad we couldn't have seen the premiere show together.

I haven't had much time to theorize/think about LOST lately, even though I have watched each episode faithfully. Although I don't have anything profound to say, here are a couple of things I've been thinking about:

- The parallel between "wild" Claire and Rousseau is really interesting. Both Claire and Rousseau lost a child, since Aaron went with Kate and Alex was kidnapped by the Others/Ben. I wonder what more parallels might become apparent.

- I'm curious about the inconsistencies between the alternate timeline on the Flight 815 and the original Flight 815 (that we saw in the first season). I think it's especially interesting that Desmond was on that flight. I'm really excited to see an episode that revolves around Desmond. Do he and Penny end up together in this alternate timeline? J and I both think that the interrelated lives between the flight members (i.e. Claire with Kate in the taxi, Jack giving Locke his business card) shows that the Oceanic passengers were supposed to meet, either on or off the island. I kind of wonder if the alternate timeline will show the Oceanic members coming together and helping each other have better lives (perhaps Jack will fix Locke's back?).

- Mems how Ben was a lil' bit contrite and sorry that he murdered Locke? Is Ben changing and becoming a "good" person? I really hope that the show doesn't start to build Ben up as a good person - I don't think that I'm ever going to like Ben.

so....

What on earth is going on with LOST?! T-rav and I feel as though they're just adding questions to the already overflowing bowl of uncertainties. What's this infection of which the Japanese man speaks? Does it = dead? Is Claire a ghost? Are the peeps on the island living in parallel universes, so to speak...split between the island and real life? And the guy Kate kicked in the face when escaping from prison- does that refer to prison on the island or somewhere else? I think he looks familiar, but I'm not sure why.

Let's hear it! What does everyone think?
